If Catholicism/orthodox were the first Christians, and some fundies insist Catholics aren't Christians...?

...why don't those disgruntled fundies look for a different word, since the Catholics can lay claim to the word "Christian" before anyone else? After all, if you dislike Catholicism, you dislike Christianity.
